It was most beautiful experience ever! Friendly people, cozy home, amazing views. Everything was authentic from afternoon tea to furniture. I slept as a child ?? and rest as a queen ??
I highly recommend this fabulous place, as I personally celebrated New Year's with the manager. It's a very welcoming, warm family home where you're always greeted with love.
The house has many artifacts related to Florence Nightingale, who founded the nursing service, as well as artifacts related to the Crimean War. It will be interesting for those who like to directly touch history. We were with the family to celebrate our daughter's birthday. There are Michelin-starred restaurants around. The place is worth a detour from the M1 and a feel of real England
Lea Hurst is a fantastic place to stay , Quiet and secluded.
The house is beautifully restored and the room was superb good views over the countryside,, Jen was a superb host and made us feel welcome in her home. Excellent breakfast and the canal path only 5 minutes walk through the garden. Good location for visiting all of the Peak District. Would highly recommend and can’t wait to return

Dear Yvonne, thanks very much for sharing this lovely feedback. It was a pleasure to host you at Lea Hurst, and we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay! We look forward to welcoming you back here again!Best wishes, Jen and Peter
A beautiful house, that comes into view as you drive through the 2nd electric gate. The owners have spent time & money to restore the property & give the interior a snapshot of what it would have been like in Florence Nightingales time of living here. The antique furniture is as good as some national trust houses & the memorabilia of Florence & the Crimea war is in most rooms. Peter and his family are very welcoming, the whole experience of staying is peaceful & you can sit in the sitting room with the log fire crackling away & keeping you warm, breakfast is served in this room on an antique Sutherland table overlooking the rear garden & fields stretching into the distance, you can at times see fallow deer & other wildlife. The bedrooms are well equipped with coffee and tea, tv, cd/radio thick towel robes, bathroom with shower, basin & toilet. A good base to visit Cromford, Matlock bath & Matlock. Plenty of local choices for eating and drinking out in the evening.
This is simply an unrivalled, perfect location to unwind, relax, wander and wonder at the awesome views and sublime peace. Thoughtfully and elegantly decorated throughout, this historic home is a no-brainer for a countryside stay with all the feels. For a romantic stay away, at the gateway to Derbyshire and The Peak District - ideal for sightseeing with a wonderful welcome after your day out - this can be a base for adventure or a marvellous place to simply sit and listen to the clock ticking and warm yourself by the real fire in the heart. Peter and his team left me wanting for nothing during my visit. Beautiful breakfast custom made to order, plush bed and bedding, soft towels, inviting furnishings... everything was at hand. The landscaped ornamental gardens through the windows felt like a scene from Bridgerton and the Snug, with its scarlet walls and generous sofas, reminded me of the most wonderful costume dramas. This gem is ideal too for getting out walking by the canal, meandering by the river and even has a nature reserve within metres that's ideal for exploring. If you want a slice of history, with all mod con's - this is it x
